Sunday 21st June 2009Long time no hear! I have a lot of catching up to do…
Most recent trip was to sunny Mallorca, it was my third visit to the fantastic DWS cliffs. This time I took my girlfriend, Rachel to Cala Barques aka Beach-4. (The camp 4 of Mallorca). The weather was brill, although it isn’t the ideal time of year to DWS in Mallorca because of the sea grease, we still managed a decent amount of vertical mileage. Although I think the highlight of the trip was more the social aspect and definitely the local cuisine. If you happen to take a trip there and come across a Columbian climber named Derick, ask him to cook you some Gambas!
For those of you that haven’t been, there is an amazing cave on Cala Barques beach where we devoured said Gambas. This cave has been done up by climbers and it’s first come first served. There’s a double bed, bbq and lots of kitchen equipment it you want to pack light! There’s a secret at the back of the cave, if you go there, you’ll find out…if you dare!
It’s a great place to meet fellow climbers and make international contacts. Every time I go I always meet a wide variety of eclectic and fun people.
p.s. went to have a look at Es pontas for a joke… hmm yeah, went well…
