Sunday 7th February 2010I have wanted to go into the Ghost area for years and finally got the chance. I teamed up with Zoe Hart and Will Mayo (aka the chauffeur legend). Will towed his 4WD jeep behind his van until the road ended then we jumped in the jeep for some off road action. Wow, what a beautiful landscape. As the snow got deeper we abandoned the jeep and set foot for another hour and half before finally getting to the base of this amazing route. The cirque is immense with 1000ft towering walls on either side. Hydrophobia is the classic Grade 5+ on the left.
Zoe took on the first hard mixed pitch and dispatched it, Go Zo !
The rest of the climb was an incredible assortment of sustained ice and mixed climbing, overhanging walls and roofs.
So good! We managed to get back down before night fall and then found that a Bear had crossed our path on the way back to the car. I haven't seen a grizzly yet and wasn't sure that I wanted to see this one either !

Brilliant effort Zoe for making one of the few ascents by a woman, and one of the hardest and most sort after multi pitch routes in Canada
