On Sunday 2nd May at 4am i'm having a crack at the BGR . It'll be a first attempt with almost no reccying . Not for want of trying though, my preparation days in the lakes were "thwarted" by such a great winter with loads of snow on the ground. So, i'll be a little more reliant on my pacers than i'd like to be. I'm aiming for 17:40 in an attampt to hold the cumulative best time for the 3 major rounds . This follows the Paddy Buckley Round in 2008 ( 18 hours 10 ) and the Ramsay Round in 2009 ( 20 hours 30 minutes - solo ). I've got some schedule times to give me an idea how it's all going, other than that i'll run on instinct and see how it goes ! Steve Birkinshaw will accompany me for the first 2 legs ( Keswick to Dunmail )before i pick up my usual running partner , Tim Higginbottom, for the long haul through to Honister. Local North Wales runners Pete & Ruth will keep me going for that long slog into Keswick. My parents and work colleagues seem to be the sensible ones though and have opted for roadside rescue (support). The weather forecast looks cold and maybe a bit wet underfoot ( snow even !! ) so i shall be relying on my excellent Haglofs and INOV 8 gear to be doing their bit during the attempt. See you on the other side.........
