Team Inov-8 are off to race the Saab Salomon MountainX, a five day adventure race in the French Alps. The race starts in Bourg Saint Maurice on the 21st July and finishes in Morzine on the 26th July, visiting a number of other great venues along the way.
The MountainX has a very exciting format - a mountain running race every day, along with a different adventure sport discipline. Mountain biking, rock climbing, white water canoeing, via ferrata and mountaineering will all feature alongside some testing mountain runs. Team captain Heather Dawe will be updating us every night throughout the race with their progress.
Teams consist of three people and this year Team Inov-8 are sending an all-woman team.
Team Inov-8 from left to right- Heather Dawe, Chez Frost and Anna Frost
Anna Frost is a teacher from New Zealand currently based in North Wales. A world-class mountain runner, Anna has recently been selected to represent New Zealand at the World Trophy Mountain Running Championships. Anna regularly competes in Europe on the Grand Prix circuit and other races, recently winning the popular Cross du Mont Blanc race, placing 7th overall.
Cheryl (Chez) Frost is an event organiser and teacher based in the Lake District. Chez's background is in trek leading and mountain rescue, where she has picked up many valuable skills. A demon mountain bike descender, in the last couple of years Chez has started competing in triathlon, fell races and mountain bike events and has done very well. Recent results include winning the Keswick Mountain Festival triathlon and placing second in the Helvellyn triathlon.
Heather Dawe is a statistician based in Yorkshire. With a background in long distance biking and running, in the last few years Heather has raced many of the UK domestic multisport and adventure races with some degree of success. Recent achievements and results include completing the Bob Graham Round, placing second in the Keswick Mountain Festival triathlon and winning the Helvellyn triathlon.
Having spent a few days over in the Alps at the end of June, practising some less familiar race disciplines and getting some great running and biking in, the team are raring to get back out there, to race hard and have fun!
