Thursday 24th July 2008"It is 6:10 on Thursday morning. Last night we slept for 6 hours, lying in 'til 5am.
Yesterday was 2 mtb stages, both with loads of climbing and the second in the heat of the afternoon. Fantastic views of the Mont Blanc massif and great trails.
Last night's trail run was painful after 9 hours of biking. Everyone is feeling the same though it was just a case of getting on with it. A big climb followed by a long descent a bit of a suffer-fest Anna finished 1st (spotting a pattern here?), Chez had another great run to finish 3rd and I was 4th.
Our bodies are really achey. I think this event is one of the hardest things I've ever done. The last two days have been long and hard and the trail races in the evening really stick the boot in. It is amazing though. How many other races could you do high level mountaineering on the Mont Blanc massif, do some fantastic biking, great runs, rock climbing, cayonning and white water kayaking? The scenery is fantastic and the weather clear and sunny. So whilst it is hard, this event is also one of the most amazing I have done.
Today we are cayonning near Annecy, and via ferratta-ing and rock climbing near the Col du Colombiere, so a relative ‘rest day'. I am hoping my rock shoes are not too tight on my blackened toenails... A 15km trail race this evening :os
Chez says ‘hello mum'."
