The British Fell Running relay championships where held on the Clwydian hills in north east Wales. Held annually in October, the relays always have a great atmosphere as fell running teams from all over the UK (ok not many southern english teams) arrive to race in teams of 6 over 4 legs.
I hadn't run in these hills before and was looking forward to racing in a new area. I was a bit nervous as I was doing the navigation leg for my team, Ilkley Harriers, and I didn't want to get it wrong!!!
Each of the 4 legs in the relay starts and finishes at the same spot so there is great support from assembled spectators and team mates.
In the mens relay there was strong competition between Bingley Harriers, Pudsey and Bramley and Mercia. Bingley's trick of fielding two international stars of triathlon, brothers Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, along with multi fell running champions Rob Jebb and Ian Holmes did the job and they won.
Bingley did the double and won the ladies event too, with Dark Peak second and my team Ilkley Harriers just pipping Calder Valley fell runners to get third place.
So that was last weekend's running. This weekend it's the OMM, in what's looking to be a very wet Lake District!
