Monday 27th October 2008Just got back form a weekend in the peak with the BUMS (Bangor University Mountaineering Society). A Brilliant few days in spite of the lack of climbing, well that’s not exactly true. Thanks to our early start on Saturday we did manage to get a couple of good routes in before the rain hit us. Giles who I was climbing with did a finger-numbing ascent of ‘Embankment 3’ at Millstone and I shivered my way up ‘Edge lane’, a route that has always attracted me for some reason.

Tip: If you don’t have a purple alien or a tricam for the shot-holes at Millstone, a size 10 wire doubled back works great! J It does look a little strange but it seems to work.
The weather didn’t seem to dampen people’s spirits too much, thanks to Mat and Jill’s cooking! Which was followed by a legendary night out, taking Sheffield by storm! The theme was tight and bright, notice Pete in the full body Leopard suit.
Sunday we didn’t leave the scout hut until 1pm, and because of a sudden downpour of rain, half of us headed to The Works and the other half went for a walk in the hills. Of course it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day! I just manage to scrape one last route in a Burbage north in the fading light and gale-force winds. ‘Ring my Bell’ E4 6a, I cant explain why I chose to do this particular route.
Anyway a blast of a weekend with a great bunch of people!
