Banff Mountain Film Festival - Brighton

Thursday 11th February 2010

Komedia Club

11 February 2010  7:30pm

£10

The Banff Mountain Film Festival is uprooting from the mothership festival in the Canadian Rockies and will shortly be heading to the Komedia Club in Brighton on Thursday February 13 as part of a UK wide tour.

The Banff World Tour features award-winning films and audience favourites from about 300 films entered each year in Banff. Come and see why more than 200,000 people across the globe gather indoors at Banff screenings to celebrate the outdoors!

A selection of award-winning mountain based films featuring climbing, mountain biking, skiing/snowboarding, whitewater kayaking and speed flying (a cross between paragliding and skiing) will be shown. Some of the films include:

  • Africa Revolutions: From the crocodile-infested White Nile in Uganda to big-water first descents in Madagascar, a group of friends experience epic whitewater adventure on African rivers.
  • First Ascent: Alone on the Wall - This film documents the story of the groundbreaking and terrifying free-solo ascents (no ropes!) of Alex Honnold, one of the world's most accomplished rock climbers.
  • Mont Blanc - Speed Flying - A beautifully shot film that features six speed riders descending thousands of metres from the upper slopes of Mont Blanc down the broken but spectacular mountainside to Chamonix in one continuous and awe-inspriing 10-minute shot.
  • Signatures: Canvas of Snow - Filmed in the Japanese mountains, this engaging film shows stunning footage of skiers in the famous deep powder near Hokkaido and also explores the cultural connection to the mountains.
  • Kranked Revolve - Featuring some of the planet's best riders, "Revolve" blasts in cinematic glory from the French Alps to the lush coast of B.C., incorporating dirt jump, trail, freeride, slopestyle and downhill riding. A high energy experience

Tickets - £10.00 in advance (tickets available on door if not sold out)

As well as seeing some great films, you can also win some great nightly prizes as well as go in the draw to win a 7 day Mont Blanc trek. The bar will be open too!
