Edale Skyline 2010

The Don Morrison Memorial Edale Skyline is one of the UKs leading fell races. It is a classic and often grueling race. Covering 21 miles with 4500 feet of ascent, from Edale in the centre of the Peak District, the course climbs to Ringing Roger then traverses the Skyline via checkpoints near Jaggers Clough, Win Hill, Lose Hill, Mam Tor, Brown Knoll, Jacobs Ladder, Grindslow Knoll and then back to Ringing Roger for the final descent.

Underfoot conditions are often poor, visibility can be minimal and taking part should never be taken lightly. In 2005, 168 started, but only 103 completed the race!

The Edale Skyline was inaugurated by Chris Worsell of DPFR and from the start, the event has been sponsored by the Sheffield mountaineering equipment supplier, Don Morrison. When Don was killed in a climbing accident in 1977, his wife Pam continued the sponsorship, and the race is now called the 'Don Morrison Memorial Skyline Race'.

The 2010 race will take place on Sunday 21 March, entries are now open. Last year the entry limit was reached before the end of January.
