View Full Version : Climbing specific training in the gym?

Has anybody got advice on climbing specific training i can do in my local gym? It's pretty well equipped and i'm wondering what the best muscle groups are to focus on? I know that the best training is to climb, but when the weather's bad and my climbing walls are a good distance away i want to be able to train in my gym. Any help would be much appreciated.

I would suggest doing calf raises on a bench. Hold dumbels or a bar to increase the weight and stand with the balls of your feet on a bench.
I would also suggest doing things like pull ups and working against your own body weight. That should help with over all climbing.
