Arcteryx Squamish Pullover

The Squamish Pullover comes in at under 150g and sets new standards in its genre. It takes the concept of using a lightweight, stretchy and ultra breathable shell layer in the mountains, as a replacement to a traditional less breathable waterproof, to its logical conclusion.

Alpinists have used similar products in the past few years on the biggest Himalayan faces (check out Steve House exploits using the Patagonia Houdini on the Rupal Face of Nanga Parbat), but the Squamish Pullover  trumps them all. Firstly the deep front zip keeps weight down but provides easy on/off. The chest pocket holds a guide book or topo and also works as a stuff sack complete with loop for harness attachment. Cuffs have die cut velcro adjustment to fit with or without glovesand the cut is articulated for freedom of movement. The slightly longer length also covers the rear for a little extra protection. Best of all the hood is fully helmet compatible.

Layer it up with tech base and mid layers underneath and a synthetic belay jacket over the top and you have yourself an awesome modern clothing system for almost all conditions.

The Squamish is also really versatile and is not only great for climbing but also for running, biking and pretty much any high intensity outdoor activity.
