Wednesday 12th October 2011Probably one of the best things about my photography career is the opportunity to spend time with so many extremely talented people... From a photographer's point of view, working with some of the best athletes in the world guarantees not only an exciting and successful photo-shoot but also can be a big source of inspiration.

It was winter 2005 when I got a chance to shoot some images with Dave Macleod for the first time. My photography knowledge back then was seriously limited but I remember how excited I was to snap away while Dave was making his way up the ‘Fast and furious‘ in Birnam Quarry. I think I shot an entire (!) 2 rolls of gritty ISO1600 B&W film... 72 frames doesn't sound exciting enough these days!

6 years later I found myself teaching climbing photography and 6 of my students could feel this buzz. The workshops were meant to be both informative and inspirational and I think they were exactly that. I'm happy that we had so much luck with the weather (it was our main concern for the weekend). It has been great to have all the varied types of lighting conditions, beautiful sunrise light for the fell running shoot and an overcast sky for the rest of the day.

For the mountain biking shoot the sun was coming and going from behind the clouds giving everyone the opportunity to observe how the light can affect what you're shooting. Even the slight drizzle didn't stop us or Dave from doing the final rock climbing shoot with him on Sunday morning.

‘I spent a great weekend with Lukasz Warzecha and his students on his climbing photography workshop. [...] I was really amazed by the standard of Lukasz' tuition and had a great time jumping onto whatever routes we could find. [...] I reckon if you want to get anywhere in climbing photography, you should get yourself a place on his next workshop. - Dave Macleod

‘Loved the entire course. All the photo-shoots were excellent and the fact that we got to shoot with Dave was unbelievable.' - student
I would like to say thank you to the workshop's sponsors: Mountain Equipment, Redged and ClikElite and to Plas y Brenin for helping us with access to some stunning locations.
