Garhwal & Kumaon - A Trekkerís and Visitorís Guide

Review by Review
Friday 1st January 1999

Probably the best thing about a travel guide is the promise of a journey to a new area and this very helpful guide contains a wide range of excellent journeys in an extremely beautiful part of the Himalayas. Parts of the Garhwal are very well-known to Western visitors, but other parts have hardly been explored. Many of the treks described in the guide are very accessible and some, such as the Gangotri trek, are very popular — while others are hardly travelled.

As a local man and very experienced mountaineer, K P Sharma gives the reader an insider’s view to his native hills. If you are looking for a memorable Himalayan journey forget the ‘Kleenex Trail’ and ‘crowded planet trek’ buy this book and go to India.
