Princeton Tec EOS LED Headlamp

This is not a particularly small nor lightweight (102g with batteries), but it is reasonably compact and the shock resistant casing means that it is very robust. There are four different settings, powered by 3 AAA batteries enclosed in a secure yet easy to open compartment.

The four settings are High, Medium, Low and Flash, with the batteries lasting just 6.5 hours on high, but 60 hours when used on the Low setting.

The switch is firm but easy to press, even wearing gloves, and is inset slightly to avoid being pressed accidentally. The headstrap is comfortable, secure and easy to adjust.

I can’t say that I have needed to use the headlamp under water yet, but the fact that it still works when placed in up to 1m depth of water could be useful in some circumstances.
