This was one of the comments on Peter's thread on STW in which he asked for advice on how to ride rocky switchbacks. The 1000 vertical m descent in question - the Sentiero Sorberine B-531 of the Ente Foreste - has about 70 switchbacks, and back in May when Peter first tried it, he could only ride about 5 of them! Now there are only 10 he can't ride after lots of practice. On Saturday 30 October Peter & Mauro of Mountainbike Ogliastra and 10 biker from Cagliari, Nuoro, Sassari, Siniscola, Orosei...so from all over Sardinia - climbed up from Talana to Monte Olinie on doubletrack made much more technical and difficult by the heavy rain of 12 October, before descending these 1000 vertical m to the Coa 'e Serra bridge. What did the visitors think of Ogliastra and the Talana tracks? "A great, really great day...the GPS says we've only done 20 km, the climbing was only 640 metres and, what's really impressive, the total descent was all of 1120 metres..our legs are still recovering from the 640 m of climbing, since the track was very technical and we often had to push... ...the 1120 m of descent are certainly the hardest I've ever done, requiring good nerves, courage and technical ability, and really showed who knew how to ride... Thanks to everyone for a great day out..." which wouldn't have been complete without beers and sandwiches at the bar Sa Carrera at Talana: Peter had previously checked out these routes with guests at The Lemon House Next Mountainbike Ogliastra ride Saturday 13 November, Baunei-Su Irove Longu-Cala Sisine, another classic All Mountain ride.
