Let the summer commence

Let's have a welcome for Billy Cox on bass, Mitch Mitchell on drums and the man with the guitar: "Yeah it has been along time hasn't it. That does mean peace, not this."

Well, as the great man (Jimi, if you hadn't worked it out) suggests it has been a long time, arrived in Cham 2 days ago for yet another fun and frolic-filled summer of action packed adventures. Only today have the clouds parted and we finally have a view from the balcony of the apartment.

The Midi is looking very snowy with quite a bit of snow on lower half of the Frendo, but should still go, just may take a bit of time getting up the rock section. The upper arête looks fab. You'll need to check the weather forecast before you set off though, as it's very hit and miss at the moment.
LATER: Word has just come in that a young Brit died on the Frendo yesterday. May I offer my condolences to friends and family.

Not much else to report, as I haven't had a chance to check the route book in the Guides office in Cham.

I start work at the weekend with a Chamonix Intro first couple of days up and around La Tour, the uplift hasn't open yet ,opens on 19th June, so it's a bit of a steep walk up to the Albert Prem hut for the first night.

So folks I will report in, next Tuesday with tales from the land of ice and snow.......

Take it easy out there
