Two new guides we've contributed to at The Lemon House have been published to Sardinia.
The first is the new 5th edition of Pietra di Luna: nearly 600 pages, 4000 single-pitch routes and 120 crags. Where we live, near Baunei, there are SEVEN times more routes than in the previous edition, and the guide says, "But contrary to what you might think, it's in the summer months that the Baunei crags see most visitors, and this is the reason that led Peter Herold (from the UK, who in 2007 with his wife Anne opened the B&B The Lemon House, in Lotzorai, very popular with bikers and climbers from all over the world) to promote, with assistance from others, among whom Jan Kares from the Czech Republic, the bolting of good crags for summer climbing....... crags which together make this a very good area for climbing and which is starting to seriously threaten Cala Gonone as the principle area of Sardinia for visiting climbers. Not least because Baunei is very near to the crags of Urzulei and no more than half an hour by car from those of Jerzu/Ulassai, which means a huge choice in the space of a few km..."
The second is the Cicerone guide to walking in Sardinia "50 walk's in Sardinia's mountains". We helped the author Paddy Dillon during his two visits to the island to write the guide. There are lots of photos of Peter and Anne and The Lemon House is the only accommodation suggested: "Peter and Anne offer particular asssistance to outdoor enthusiasts". You can buy the guidebooks from Cicerone, Cordee and outdoor shops.
