Wednesday 22nd October 2008Ryanair is making Cagliari its second base in the island after Alghero and has announced lots of new flights to Sardinia for the summer season 2009 (end March - end Oct): to Cagliari Manchester & Dusseldorf 2x/wk, Edinburgh 3x/wk, Rome every day, Paris & Brussels 4x/wk; to Alghero new routes for Oslo, Brussels and Paris. We checked a couple of flights: you can already book the Manchester and Edinburgh flights for the end of April 2009. For those coming to the Giro of Sardinia, the best flights from London are already up on the website.
Other companies are adding new flights as well: from April/May 2009, Jet2.com is flying from Manchester and Edinburgh to Olbia. Flights are already available.
This winter (end Oct 2008 - end March 2009) both Ryanair and Easyjet have flights 3x/wk from Stansted and Luton to Alghero and Cagliari respectively. Cagliari is in fact the closest airport time-wise to most of the island's climbing.
