Tuesday 18th August 2009Kilian got 'Airstar' on Thursday afternoon, a fantastic achievement as this has been a long standing projects attempted by some of the strongest climbers Rocklands has seen. Amy witnessed it, she said that she thought for sure Kilian was going to fly off the small flake but unbelieveably he held on, what a great thing to have witnessed!
That morning Amy efficiently sent 'Otamot', a 6C project at Taaiboshkraal.

And after a long battle I finally got 'Nutsa' 8A+ on my 8th attempt of the day! I have fallen off the last crimp on 'Nutsa' since my arrival in Rocklands in May this year. I still don't know why I was unable to stick this hold because the video demonstrates that I have more than enough strength do it. On my successful attempt, I changed my sequence using the small crimp instead, suffice to say I was really emotional at the top!!

On Saturday night we attended the opening of 'The Hen House' at Alpha Excelsior farm. This is the first venue in Rocklands where climbers will be able to order food and socialise with fellow climbers. The opening night was a huge success with approximately 30 boulderers from all over the world including South Africa, England, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Finland and America. It was a fantastic evening and I am sure The Hen House will be a huge success.
